A delegation of French politicians led by the President of the Association “Franco-Russian Dialogue” Thierry Mariani, who is visiting Crimea for the third time, told Europe about the real situation on the peninsula. This was announced at a press conference in Simferopol, the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky.
“This is a landmark visit of the delegation that opened the Crimea and the world to Europe, which exulted and continues to have the most positive feelings about returning home to Russia,” he said.
The deputy noted that the first visit of the delegation to the Crimea headed by Mariani in 2015 was a “mission of truth”, because then French politicians told the European press about what is actually happening on the peninsula. “And this mission has already entered the history of Crimea,” said Slutsky.
He thanked the French politicians for courage – many because of their position on Crimea lost their mandates in the country’s parliament.
“But they all became very authoritative politicians in their country, because they told the truth about the events in Crimea, about how Russia is committed to cooperation with Europe. Therefore, it is significant and logical that we celebrate the fifth anniversary (the return of the Crimea to Russia. – Approx. Ed.) Together, ”said Leonid Slutsky.
The delegation of French politicians is in Crimea from March 13 to March 16. During the visit, foreign guests will take part in celebrations marking the fifth anniversary of the reunification of the peninsula with Russia.
