Leonid Slutsky: “The forum has become one of the key platforms of parliamentarism”

The head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, on July 2 at the II International Forum on the Development of Parliamentarism, organized by the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said that the forum had become one of the key areas of parliamentarism on all key issues.

“Already today we can say that the forum is becoming a key platform for inter-parliamentary dialogue. There is not a single serious issue that would remain outside the attention of the plenary sessions and sections of the forum, ”stressed Leonid Slutsky.

He noted that the guests of the forum represent the intellectual elites of their countries and many political elites of the world received education in Russia.

“Parliamentary diplomacy is rapidly rushing to the forefront, the 21st century will be the century of parliamentarism’s diplomacy,” says the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Today it is necessary to find friends and strategic partners, and it turns out – the forum proved that this is a successful global platform, Leonid Slutsky said.

“We will continue to work, building effective plans in the name of building a secure architecture for the world,” said the parliamentarian.

Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, summed up that the dialogue with the parliamentary dimension of the African Union is very important and promising.

On the initiative of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the II International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” is being held in Moscow. The representatives of 132 states arrived at the forum. About 800 guests from abroad and a delegation of 14 international parliamentary organizations participate in the events, of which 41 are speakers of the national parliament (in 2018 19 speakers came to the forum).

Within the framework of the forum, the Russia-Africa parliamentary conference will be held on July 3.
