Leonid Slutsky: “The key to ending the war in southeastern Ukraine is the implementation of the Minsk agreements”

Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky:

“Zelensky called on the West to maintain anti-Russian sanctions as a“ tax for peace ”in the Donbass. Obviously, the president of Ukraine confuses the situation somewhat.

The key to ending the war in southeastern Ukraine is the implementation of the Minsk agreements, primarily on the part of Kiev: the withdrawal of heavy weapons, the adoption of laws on the special status of the DPR and LPR and the amnesty, as well as the decision to end the economic blockade. This is the minimum necessary to launch the peace process. And sanctions are definitely not included in this list.

I repeat once again the commonplace truths: Russia is not a party to the conflict in the Donbass, nor is it a party to the Minsk agreements. The sooner the new authorities in Kiev stop using the anti-Russian card to receive regular Western loans and begin to establish dialogue with the DPR and LPR, the sooner the long-awaited peace will come to Ukraine. ”
