“The message of the President of the Russian Federation to the Federal Assembly became sensational in many areas. This, in essence, is a historical appeal to the nation, where the emphasis is, first of all, on solving the real problems of the population, further strengthening the authority of Russia in the world, preserving historical memory.
The most important thesis in the foreign policy bloc was the need to consolidate the efforts of the UN Security Council member countries to prevent a global war. This is a call for observance of basic values, ensuring the principles of a multipolar world structure, and preventing hacking of the UN. I hope that he will be heard far beyond the borders of Russia.
I would also especially like to note the words of Vladimir Putin about the need to preserve the truth about the Great Victory. In some countries, in particular Poland, the history of World War II is grossly falsified. And it is necessary to counteract such manifestations in the most decisive manner at all levels. At international venues, in the first place, in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe as the most wide-reaching European organization, we will fiercely fight against attempts to instill historical lies. I think that we will have supporters from other national delegations.
At the upcoming PACE session, the Russian delegation will most likely propose a declaration calling for the preservation of the historical memory of World War II. Our children should know who actually secured the Great Victory. On the eve of its 75th anniversary, we must say a decisive “no” to attempts to belittle the role of the Soviet soldier in the fight against fascism.
I would also like to single out the postulate of the Address on the need to establish in the Basic Law the priority of the Constitution of Russia over the norms of international treaties and decisions of international organizations. This is a long overdue decision that will ensure the preservation of sovereignty and the upholding of Russia’s positions in the world. ”
