Leonid Slutsky: “The statements of the European Commission that Russia or China conducted misinformation campaigns in the midst of a pandemic are complete nonsense”

The Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky on the EC statement on the participation of the Russian Federation and China in disinformation campaigns in relation to the EU countries since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic:

“The European Commission shines with reflected light from the Washington Regional Committee. Allegations that Russia or China conducted misinformation campaigns in the midst of a pandemic are utter nonsense. This is an attempt to shift the responsibility for the fact that the EU institutions in fact did not pass the test of strength in the face of unprecedented world challenges.

Against the background of the fight against coronavirus, it turned out that there is no European unity, and each for itself. Italy, which became the epicenter of the spread of COVID-19, received assistance from Russia, China, Cuba, but not from its NATO and EU allies. This is the reason for all such statements. They again try to restore the bonds in the European house by searching for an external enemy. Apparently with the expectation that one’s own cowardice and national egoism should automatically be discounted or written off to mythical disinformation campaigns.”
