Leonid Slutsky called the PACE resolution on the death of Nemtsov a tool to demonize Russia

Leonid Slutsky, deputy head of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said that the report on the assassination of politician Boris Nemtsov is used as an element of pressure on Russia.

“The murder report of Boris Nemtsov is absolutely politicized and engaged. This report is not about Nemtsov, but about using his name as a tool for demonizing Russia on the PACE platform, ”Interfax quotes his words.

The deputy noted that the document was initiated even before the authority of the Russian delegation was confirmed in PACE. At the same time, the author of the document, the representative of Lithuania, Emanuelis Zings, never came to Russia and used exclusively external dubious data.

According to the head of the Duma committee, the resolution contains biased interpretations of the tragedy that have nothing to do with the establishment of truth. “All the appeals of the draft resolution are elements of pressure on the Russian leadership and the investigation,” Slutsky stressed.

On June 27, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, by a majority of votes, adopted a resolution calling on Russia to re-open and continue the investigation into the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov. The text points to a number of violations that were allegedly committed during the trial, including “to remove the jury for false or weak grounds.” The author of the document claims that the motive of the probable customer of the murder of the ex-officer of the “Sever” battalion Ruslan Mukhudinov “is not supported by any evidence,” besides this, no explanations were given as to how he received money to pay the murderers.

The Russian delegation to PACE stated that it did not participate in the voting on the resolution, since the case is not yet closed, a separate criminal procedure was singled out, and this could be a pressure on the investigation.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead in the center of Moscow on the evening of February 27, 2015.

In July 2017, the Moscow District Military Court sentenced the perpetrators of the crime Zaur Dadaev, the brothers Anzor and Shadid Gubashev, Temirlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhayev to a strict regime colony for 11 to 20 years.
