Leonid Slutsky: “The Committee at its meeting on June 13 intends to consider a draft law on suspending the INF Committee”

Leonid Slutsky, chairman of international affairs, stressed that Russia never violated the INF Treaty, moreover, “we have repeatedly offered American partners to make sure of this in practice, but all the arguments of the Russian side were ignored”

Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee, said that at its meeting on June 13, the Committee intends to consider a bill submitted by Russian President Vladimir Putin to suspend Russia’s participation in the Treaty between the USSR and the USA on the elimination of medium and short-range missiles.

“This will be an exceptionally retaliatory measure for the US withdrawal from the Treaty. I am sure that all the deputies-members of our Committee will vote for the recommendation to adopt the draft law. Previously, the State Duma Council put the issue on June 18, ”he recalled.

“The United States and NATO continue to accuse Russia of violating the Treaty. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg calls on Moscow to “save” the Treaty, returning to observe it. Such statements are a brazen and cynical cover-up for Washington’s actions on the breakdown of key agreements in the field of arms control. Russia has never violated the INF Treaty, moreover, we have repeatedly suggested that our American partners be convinced of this in practice, but all the arguments of the Russian side were ignored, ”Leonid Slutsky said.
