A conservative scenario or well-thought-out maneuvers? Donald Trump is trying to balance between the Western “war party” and the moderates, without sliding into a mode of direct confrontation with the Kremlin. Therefore, he “shakes his fist”, talks about “deferred threats” and, in fact, shifts the yoke of supporting Kyiv to the Europeans.
But if Trump really wants progress in the Ukrainian settlement, the “fist” should be shown to the Zelensky regime, and not promise secondary sanctions against Russia. The leadership of our country has repeatedly stated that it is ready to end the conflict, all of Moscow’s proposals are on the negotiating table. We are waiting for the Ukrainian side to agree on the date of the third round of Istanbul-2.
As for the talk about preparations for resuming the process of missile deliveries to the Ukrainian junta: this will certainly be a step back, but will not fundamentally change the situation on the front for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The goals of the SVO will be achieved in any case – either through negotiations or on the battlefield.
