From the explosions and their consequences in Hiroshima out of a population of 350 thousand people died, in Nagasaki – 74 thousand. Civilians. A terrible page in history, and not only in Japan. Have lessons been learned? A big question.
Speaking today at the “Peace Ceremony”, neither the mayor of Hiroshima nor the Japanese Prime Minister dared to call the United States the culprits of the tragedy. And this has been happening for many years. Modern Tokyo, in the logic of colonial dependence, prefers to forget who acted as the aggressor, using nuclear weapons for the first time without any military necessity.
And not only Tokyo. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in his message on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Japanese cities also again did not mention the responsibility of the United States. At the same time, he noted the tendency to threaten to use nuclear weapons.
Washington has not apologized and is not going to apologize for the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On the contrary. A campaign to justify the atomic strikes has been launched in the American media. “The U.S. decision in 1945 to drop nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan saved millions of lives,” the New York Post article says.
At the same time, the collective West is increasing militarization and the arms race against the backdrop of myths about the “Russian threat.” Russia does not threaten anyone; our country’s policy in the field of nuclear deterrence is defensive in nature. And if the world forgets the lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, playing a “substitution of concepts,” the risks of a catastrophe for human civilization will steadily increase.
