Israel, defying calls from the international community and accusations from the UN commission of unleashing genocide, launched a ground operation in the Gaza Strip

Essentially, an occupation of a Palestinian enclave.

Following the barbaric, massive airstrikes, IDF forces launched a ground offensive to completely defeat Hamas and establish control over Gaza. But at what cost? New civilian casualties—women, the elderly, and children—the displacement of Palestinians from their homes, and the worsening humanitarian catastrophe?

The Israeli strikes on Doha, targeting the Hamas leadership, have dramatically set back the peace process. Against this backdrop, the ground operation is escalating the situation to the extreme. Following an emergency Arab summit, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) called for Israel’s expulsion from the United Nations.

The Israeli government’s actions are utterly inhumane and are leading the Jewish state toward global isolation. But this seems to be of little concern to Netanyahu, who is maniacally fanning the flames of the Middle East. The United States’ support for decision-makers in West Jerusalem today clearly gives them a sense of complete impunity. The new American administration is adopting a duplicitous stance: they talk about peacekeeping efforts, but what about the IDF entering the enclave immediately after the Israeli Prime Minister’s meeting with US Secretary of State Rubio (!).

Violence must end. This must be understood by everyone, without exception. The issue must be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions and through the final formation of a Palestinian state. Otherwise, events in Gaza could become the prologue to a Great War.
