Thermonuclear ‘non-deterrence’ is growing in Europe

In the wake of the tragic events surrounding Iran, the presentation of French President Macron’s new nuclear strategy was less glamorous. Its essence is one continuous threat.

In the final year of his presidential term, the leader of the Fifth Republic decided to increase nuclear weapons potential and arsenals, extending a French “nuclear umbrella” to cover, if not all of Europe, then the United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Sweden, and Denmark. Macron clearly hasn’t heard of non-proliferation violations. And he’s unlikely to realize that flexing his “nuclear muscles” doesn’t enhance strategic stability.

And Macron isn’t alone in this. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is also voicing his desire to possess his own nuclear weapons. Finland and Estonia have declared their desire to deploy NATO nuclear weapons on their territories. These statements came just a week after the SVR exposed secret criminal plans by Paris and London to transfer nuclear weapon components to Kyiv to create a “dirty bomb.”

Nuclear hysteria is clearly growing against a backdrop of Russophobic paranoia. But European capitals are unlikely to expand the official membership of the “nuclear club.” They are more likely to create a club of suicidal countries, where citizens are held hostage by the government’s suicidal policies. Don’t listen to Macron – read Russia’s new nuclear doctrine.
