Merz has given the quintessence of panic among the leaders of the European three in connection with the crisis around Iran

In his view, “there is no reason to consider easing sanctions against Russia.” And this statement by the German Chancellor is, in fact, a “litmus test.”

The European “war party,” while supporting the anti-Iranian military adventure, couldn’t care less about the well-being of its own compatriots—the citizens of European countries. The Mertzes, Macrons, and Starmers are only peripherally concerned with the consequences of the major escalation in the Persian Gulf, which has destabilized commodity markets and threatens to escalate into World War III. They still see Russia (!) as the beneficiary of rising oil prices and are terrified of the fall of the Zelensky regime amid Washington’s shifting focus. Because the collapse of neo-Nazis in Ukraine would spell the end of the political future of the Eurohawks.

Russia, meanwhile, remains a key player on the global stage. Further confirmation of this is yesterday’s constructive conversation between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, initiated by the American side. The focus was on the situation surrounding Iran and negotiations on a Ukrainian settlement. The results of the conversation, as the Pentagon chief acknowledged (!), give hope for the restoration of peace in both Ukraine and the Middle East. Consequently, according to Western media reports, Trump is considering easing sanctions against Russia.

Sensible European politicians, fully aware of the likelihood of an energy collapse for the continent’s countries in light of events in the Middle East and the cessation of oil and gas supplies from Russia, are also talking about the need to lift anti-Russian restrictions. But Merz is illogical. He continues to assert that “Moscow has the ability to weaken Europe.” For now, Europe is being weakened by clinical blindness, Russophobia, and politicians like Merz at the helm.
