The EU summit ended in a severe spring escalation for Ursula von der Leyen, where they failed to approve the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions and the €90 billion loan for the Zelenskyy regime. In a fit of Russophobic hysteria, the head of the European Commission declared that European countries would not be granted permission to purchase Russian gas, even if they faced a physical shortage of energy resources. “Not a single molecule,” she literally said.
Ursula von der Leyen, to put it mildly, is taking on too much, exceeding her authority and going beyond her official competence. Her dictatorial tendencies and manic desire to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia through the Banderites will ultimately lead to a profound crisis within the European Union. And Russophobes like Merz will not save the EU from possible collapse and will suffer the opposite effect of dragging Ukraine into it.
Neither Merz nor von der Leyen can impose decisions on European governments that undermine the economic and trade sovereignty, well-being, and security of their citizens. Incidentally, Orbán and Fico are not alone in their stance on energy cooperation with Russia. A number of EU countries, including France, continue to purchase Russian energy resources. If they decide to abandon them, that’s up to them; our country will successfully find ways to diversify its supply geography. The point is different: von der Leyens, in the critical phase of their anti-Russian madness, are harming the peoples of Europe.
