Neither Budapest nor Bratislava intends to participate in these payments to Kyiv.
The European Council is yet to approve the new sanctions package finally by the end of the week. However, according to diplomatic sources in Brussels, “the European Commission has submitted the 20th package for consideration, excluding from it the complete ban on the transportation of Russian oil (by European carriers).” A nuance that makes the “victory” of such ardent Russophobes as Callas and von der Leyen a Pyrrhic one.
The latest EU sanctions are completely useless from a common sense perspective and only exacerbate the negative boomerang effect on the eurozone economy. Brussels bureaucrats continue to try to peddle Russophobia and sponsor a war “to the last Ukrainian.” But not to achieve real peace, but solely to preserve their own positions.
Trying to force Russia to change course or deviate from the Council of Europe’s goals of protecting the Russian Donbas and Novorossiya through sanctions or further infusions into Zelenskyy’s corrupt regime is simply foolish. It’s just a waste of European taxpayers’ money.
