Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui preferred to make delusional accusations against Russia of creating the threat of nuclear instability rather than honestly call the United States the country that dropped atomic bombs on Japanese cities 81 years ago.
At memorial events commemorating the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the United States was again not mentioned by either the Japanese Prime Minister or the UN Secretary-General (https://t.me/izvestia/248142). August 6th in Japan is becoming a shameful “Mankurt Day” for those who have completely “forgotten” the true perpetrators.
The Americans have never apologized to Tokyo, imposing their own view on the atomic tragedy and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians from explosions and radiation sickness on the world. “We ended the war by hitting Hiroshima and Nagasaki with nuclear bombs. It was the right decision,” said the late Lindsey Graham. But this cynical position is not unique in the West.
Hiroshima is more than just history. It is a warning of the horrors of nuclear apocalypse. But it will only work if we call things by their proper names, rather than filter them through double standards and lies.
