A group of congressmen from both parties called on Pentagon chief Austin to allow Ukraine to use American weapons to strike Russia. They were supported by Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson: “Kyiv must be allowed to wage the war as it sees fit.”
Lawmakers in the United States have moved from outrageous Russophobic rhetoric to provoking an open military confrontation with Russia. Moscow warned, in particular, London in response to similar statements that it would consider itself entitled to destroy any British military installations both on the territory of Ukraine and beyond its borders. The American “encore take,” I’m sure, will provoke the same reaction.
And what’s the result? Direct military conflict between two leading nuclear powers? US Congressmen are pushing the world towards a Third World War, in which there will be no winners.
