Leonid Slutsky took part in the round table “War and Peace in the 21st Century. Parliamentary Peacekeeping Activity in the Context of Transformation of the International Relations System”

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky took part in the round table “War and Peace in the 21st Century. Parliamentary Peacekeeping Activity in the Context of Transformation of the International Relations System” at the TASS press center as part of preparations for the award ceremony of the first Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize.

Leonid Slutsky noted that the International Peace Prize will become a landmark event in the context of peacekeeping and humanitarian activities in the coming years. According to the Chairman of the Committee, today the entire system of international relations is going through a period of transformation. Leonid Slutsky emphasized the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the work to create a peaceful, secure and stable world architecture of the 21st century.

“Each country will decide for itself, based on its sovereignty, its traditions and foundations, how to develop further. These decisions will not be made in the sole pole of power of Washington,” Leonid Slutsky added. Leonid Slutsky specified that the number of supporters of a multipolar world is growing – the countries of the Global South – Africa, part of Greater Eurasia. Russia and its supporters have created a new global majority, formed the BRICS bloc.

The Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize, he added, will also become a factor of consolidation. “This will be a powerful factor in the further development of the peacekeeping movement, in which healthy public organizations, parliaments, specific public and political figures in different countries of the world will participate. This is a great initiative that is aimed at the future,” Leonid Slutsky concluded.
