The conference was opened by the Vice-President of PARLACEN Daniel-Ortega Reis, with an official greeting from the State Duma, the First Deputy Chairman Ivan Melnikov delivered. The event was attended by more than a hundred parliamentarians from Latin America.
Leonid Slutsky in his speech explained in detail the reasons and goals of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. “The countries of the “golden billion” openly support neo-Nazi regimes in order to strengthen their positions in the world. This also applies to Ukraine, the leadership of which has chosen as new national heroes those who, together with the Nazis, destroyed Russians, Poles, Jews,” L. Slutsky said.
The head of the committee noted the facts of unprecedented interference in the affairs of sovereign states by the collective West and illegal sanctions pressure on both Russia and Latin American countries. He called for joint efforts to fight against attempts to build a unipolar world order with the leading role of the United States and its European satellites. “As parliamentarians, we should not be observers, but active builders of a new multipolar world,” he added.
Leonid Slutsky invited the participants of the meeting to the Inter-Parliamentary Conference “Russia – Latin America”, which will be held from September 30 to October 2 in Moscow.
