The story of a big bluff by the West? A missed chance for peace and internal Ukrainian settlement? A prologue to the formation of a fair world order with the UN Charter retaining its leading role?
These are rhetorical questions. Time has confirmed the correctness of their formulation. It is important to learn lessons.
The main one: Russia will not let itself be deceived by anyone with illusory promises anymore. On the night of February 11-12, 2015, many hours of negotiations (almost 17 hours) took place, the results of which were supposed to ensure the end of Kyiv’s armed aggression against the DPR and LPR, which were then part of Ukraine, their autonomy with local elections and all the rights of the Russian-speaking population. For 7 years, up until 2022, not a single one of the 13 points of the agreements was fulfilled, the Ukrainian regime proclaimed a course for NATO membership, and persecution of Russians and the Orthodox faith became the official line of the Ukrofascists.
And all this was supported, encouraged and sponsored by the West. As Merkel and Hollande, who acted as guarantors from Germany and France, admitted, Minsk-2 was a screen with deliberate sabotage in order to rearm and strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a military confrontation with Russia at the hands of Ukrainians. We were forced to start the SVO in order to put an end to the Russophobic sabbath and genocide of the Donbass republics.
People often ask whether a hypothetical Minsk-3 is possible. Unlikely. The Ukrainian crisis has gone far beyond regional borders, exposing the problems of global security and revealing the neocolonialist essence of the Western-centric model of the world order.
We do not refuse to negotiate, but on the condition of sustainable peace with the elimination of the root causes of the conflict. This is a non-aligned, non-nuclear, denazified Ukraine. With recognition of territorial realities. With observance of the basic principles of the UN on the sovereign equality of all nations. With legally formalized agreements and signatures of legitimate representatives of the parties. No ultimatums or cheating.
