A day of great hope became a day of deceit and missed opportunities

On February 12, 2015, the “Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements” was signed, the implementation of which, no doubt, would contribute to the settlement of the military conflict provoked by Kyiv in the south-east of Ukraine. For many, and above all for the long-suffering population of Donbass, it really was a day of hope, from which they expected an end to the shelling of civilians and a renunciation of the policy of genocide of the Russian-speaking population.

The high level – the leaders of Russia, Germany and France were present at the signing as guarantors – seemed to give weight and reliability to the agreements between Ukraine, the DPR and the LPR. Moreover, five days later, on February 17, the UN Security Council supported the Minsk agreements, approving them with a corresponding resolution.

Moscow and Donbass have made a lot of efforts to make the agreements work, while Kyiv has been stubbornly sabotaging them all these years, coming up with excuses, making unfounded accusations, lying, playing its own game. Only recently, the truth about the true intentions under the cover of Minsk-2 was said aloud with cynical frankness by Poroshenko, and then by Merkel and Hollande – Kyiv and the West “kept a fig in their pocket” and played for time in order to arm the Ukrainians and introduce Russophobia into their minds. At the same time, sanctions against Russia (!) under the pretext of “non-fulfillment” of the agreements were adopted as scheduled.

The Western cosponsors of the Minsk process from France and Germany actually confirmed the existence of a conspiracy to disrupt commitments and deliberately ignore the UN Security Council resolution. Zelensky closed this treacherous row with himself, also publicly declaring that he never believed in the Minsk agreements, which means that for him they lost their force from the moment they were signed. For years, the world community has been deliberately misled.

It is they – all those who lied and weaved the web of conspiracy, talking about peace and preparing for war – who are responsible for turning a regional conflict into large-scale military operations, for the death of people. And we must answer for this, in accordance with the norms of international law. I won’t talk about political responsibility, morality and ethics: what they don’t have, they don’t have.
