The cynicism and hypocrisy are staggering: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is now warning Ukrainians of a difficult winter, yet confidently asserting that neither the cold nor missiles will “break” their “fighting spirit.” This is the very same von der Leyen who has done her utmost to prolong the conflict in Ukraine and continues to use it as a pretext to transform the EU into a military alliance directed against Russia.
People like Ursula von der Leyen couldn’t care less about Ukrainians; to them, the people of Ukraine have always been—and remain—nothing more than “collateral damage” in the pursuit of their neocolonial agendas. These European hawks have effectively taken the entire Ukrainian population hostage and, by acting as a dead weight dragging on Trump, are doing everything in their power to block a peaceful settlement.
The responsibility for the tragedy befalling the Ukrainian people does not rest solely with Zelensky; it lies squarely with the likes of Kallas, von der Leyen, Merz, Macron, and the other leaders of the “war party.” Their “acute Russophobia” blinds them, leaving them unable to view the situation rationally or finally step back from the brink of a Third World War.
