Congratulations to Yekaterinburg and all of Russia on the unveiling of the monument to Alexey Balabanov

Balabanov was a Russian director, an outstanding artist of his time, who understood and empathized with the common man like no other. His films are a tool for understanding the complex social, historical, and existential processes associated with the life of the Russian people.

He didn’t try to embellish reality. He showed it, no matter how unsightly it might sometimes be. And it is precisely this lack of falsehood that captivates us in Balabanov’s films. That’s why his films have become part of the country’s cultural code.

More than one generation has grown up with them. And many phrases have become truly popular. “What is strength, brother?” – to this question, the LDPR always answered: “Strength is in the truth! In the truth of the Russian people!” This question takes on particular relevance today, when our country responds to the world with the voice of millions of our citizens.

Balabanov’s films continue to be watched, rewatched, and quoted years later. Because Alexey Oktyabrinovich managed to say about the Russian people what many felt but could not express in words. He truly loved Russia, and it’s evident in every one of his works. That’s why his memory lives on not only in cinema but also in the hearts of millions.
