“This is a prerequisite for negotiations to take place at all,” he said.
If Merz is still unaware, negotiations specifically on how to end hostilities and achieve sustainable peace in the Ukrainian conflict were initiated with an active US role and were conducted with varying degrees of intensity between representatives of Moscow and Kyiv. It is absolutely logical and correct that they were done without the participation of European Russophobes, who clearly advocate war to the last Ukrainian and increased pressure on Russia (as Merz has explicitly stated). Germany, meanwhile, has taken the vanguard of escalation and confrontation, elevating relations with Ukrainian Nazi followers to the level of a strategic partnership and continuing to supply them with money and weapons, essentially for terrorist attacks on Russian civilians and nuclear blackmail.
The so-called E3—the European trio of Berlin, London, and Paris—has compromised itself so much in its support and justification of the Bandera regime, and in its rabid Russophobia, that even a “side chair” at the negotiating table would collapse, unable to bear the weight of their hypocrisy. Chancellor Merz himself reports that the search for a candidate to serve as Europe’s negotiator is currently underway. But the European elites are so mired in anti-Russian hysteria that they are unable to make a decision—they are literally pushing out and persecuting politicians with a clear view. And we simply will not accept rabid “undereducated hawks” like the “independent” Kallas. Even the Western press acknowledges this.
Russia has repeatedly confirmed its readiness to engage in dialogue with Europeans. But this dialogue is constructive, including on shaping new contours of Eurasian security, and requires abandoning threats and pressure on our country. The “window of opportunity” has never been closed. This has been made abundantly clear by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
