Deputy Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Intelligence Monitoring from the CDU Roderich Kiesewetter proposed expelling as many Russian diplomats as possible from Germany and closing the Russian House.
Representatives of the German Chancellor’s party suffer from the populist bacillus that is widespread in Western politics. Artificially maintaining Russophobia on the agenda at the level of diplomatic wars is a failed way to earn points. Especially if there is nothing to counter it with in terms of real actions.
Anti-Russian rhetoric will not add sympathy to voters for either Chancellor Merz or his associates. Just as spy mania and the search for external enemies will not solve the problems of ordinary Germans.
