President Zelensky flew to the United States on an American plane in his military outfit to meet with Biden. Right on the eve of this visit, the State Department announced a new $1.85 billion “assistance package” for Ukraine, which included Patriot air defense systems, as well as HARM missiles and ammunition for HIMARS MLRS. Secretary Blinken’s statement cynically says that all this will help strengthen Ukraine’s negotiating position. Rather, as Moscow has repeatedly warned, they will become legitimate targets for the Russian Armed Forces.
What kind of negotiations are we talking about? At the final press conference, Biden and Zelensky differed in their testimony. The US President began to speak for his ward, saying that he was “open to achieve peace” in Ukraine. But Zelensky immediately declared: Kyiv will not make any compromises. Not without Biden’s branded reservations – the Ukrainians in his performance turned into “the people of Uranus“.
Most disgusting hypocrisy. The United States assures that they do not want to allow an escalation, but they continue to overwhelm Ukraine with weapons. Of course, under such conditions, the Kyiv regime will never negotiate.
And Zelensky himself repeated the thesis about “war to the last Ukrainian” a little later in the US Congress, albeit in a veiled form. It turns out that the Ukrainian military can perfectly manage both American tanks and planes. Not without further begging for financial assistance.
A good analysis of this whole action came from where they did not expect. Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that Zelensky would not have flown in if real support from the United States had not begun to crumble.
