Leonid Slutsky: “Bulgaria, having announced the expulsion of two Russian diplomats, has added to the list of states that are fanning out of the blue spy scandals against Russia”

Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs:

“Bulgaria, having announced the expulsion of two Russian diplomats, has added to the list of states that are fanning out of the blue spy scandals against Russia. At the same time, the relevant statements of the Bulgarian prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are written as a carbon copy. Czech Republic, Norway, Slovakia, Austria – these are countries that have taken similar actions during 2020 with practically the same reasoning. I do not exclude that all this is part of a strategy for further demonizing Russia on the European continent.

Sofia’s demarche to expel Russian diplomats, of course, will not remain without a symmetrical response from the Russian side. It remains to be regretted that significant damage is inflicted on Russian-Bulgarian relations in this way.”
