Leonid Slutsky: “Heads of European Parliament committees fear the possibility of “quickly filling the political vacuum” in Afghanistan from Russia and China”

Leonid Slutsky:

“The heads of the European Parliament committees on international affairs and development issued a statement on the need for a new EU strategy on Afghanistan, fearing the possibility of“ quickly filling the political vacuum ”in this country from Russia and China.

A position that, to put it mildly, does not stand up to criticism. In a situation where tensions in the region have sharply increased (and not without the participation of the forces of the collective West), the European Parliament continues with a maniacal obsession to look for a hypothetical threat from Russia in everything. Lord MEPs, open your eyes! The vacuum in Afghanistan is rapidly being filled by the group that the US-led NATO coalition allegedly fought for 20 years.
At the same time, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, himself, on the contrary, stated that Russia and China would like America to continue trying to stabilize Afghanistan, spending millions of its dollars on this. It seems that Washington and Brussels did not have time to agree on what exactly Russia should be accused of in this situation.

Meanwhile, a hotbed of instability is brewing in the immediate vicinity of the Russian borders. Moscow, naturally, will adhere to all its obligations within the framework of the CIS and the CSTO. But today, more than ever, there is a need for joint work to prevent a new regional crisis. I really want to hope that this will also reach our so-called partners! “
