Leonid Slutsky: Macron called the assignment of candidate status for EU membership for Ukraine and Moldova a signal for Russia

Macron called the assignment of candidate status for EU membership for Ukraine and Moldova a signal for Russia. Rather, it is a signal of the actual transition of the EU to “Russophobic rails.”

None of these countries meet any of the criteria to even come close to the doors of the European Union. Candidate status for them was granted within the framework of the same Anti-Russia project.

Everything is clear with Ukraine. Since 2014, Kyiv, under external control, has been turning Ukrainian territory into an anti-Russian foothold. For him, the anteroom of the European Union is already a reward, although decades may pass before obtaining membership itself. Was it worth 8 years of hell for Donbass?

The question now is with Moldova. The speaker of the Moldovan parliament, Igor Grosu, said that the status of a candidate for EU membership obliges Chisinau to support new anti-Russian sanctions. And “holes” in the national economy are not a hindrance to this. But the trick is that the European Union will definitely not patch these very “holes”, as well as a possible aggravation of the situation within Moldova itself. At least, this is already directly spoken about in Gagauzia.
