On January 14, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, Kazem Jalali. They discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including in the parliamentary plane, as well as the situation in the region.
“During the exchange of views, they touched upon the situation that developed after the barbaric assassination of General IRGC Kassem Suleimani and the tragic crash of the Ukrainian Boeing-737 in the sky over Tehran. Once again, condolences were expressed to the Iranian people, as well as to the families and friends of the victims of the crash, regardless of their citizenship or nationality, ”L.E. Slutsky.
The Chairman of the Committee added that the Russian deputies and Mr. Ambassador have long-standing and fruitful relations since his work in the Commission on Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Iran. “For our part, we reaffirmed our readiness to increase inter-parliamentary cooperation after the parliamentary elections in Iran on February 21,” L.E. Slutsky.
