Today in the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs a meeting was held with a delegation of parliamentarians of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction on international platforms. A separate line was touched on the topic of the upcoming Russia-Africa summit in Sochi on October 23-24.
The chairman of the negotiations, Leonid Slutsky, proposed a joint meeting of the foreign affairs committees of the State Duma and the Egyptian parliament following the results of Sochi meetings. “Following the upcoming summit in Sochi, we could hold a joint meeting of our committees at the end of this year or at the beginning of the next in Moscow or Cairo,” he said.
In turn, the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of Egypt, Karim Darvish, supported this proposal and declared full readiness for regular inter-parliamentary contacts with deputies of the State Duma. “We fully support your initiative and will be happy to receive you next year at any convenient time. We will be happy to begin a cycle of such meetings at the level of our committees, ”Darvish noted.
