Gorbachev was, of course, the brightest politician of his time. But for all those born in the Soviet Union, he remains a complex and controversial historical figure.
It’s a pity in a Christian way… Just as it’s a pity for that great country, the processes for the collapse of which began just in the era of “perestroika” and “new thinking” and played into the hands of those who sought to erase the USSR from the political map of the world.
