Leonid Slutsky: Nationalists prevent people from leaving through humanitarian corridors in Ukraine

The Russian negotiating team pays the most attention to humanitarian corridors in Ukraine, but nationalists use people as human shields and do not let them out, Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said at a March 10 plenary session.

The deputy recalled that the Ministry of Defense published an order dated January 21 by the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel-General Mykola Balan, on plans for an attack on Donbass. The order contains a detailed tactical plan for an attack on the Donbass, which was prevented by a Russian military operation designed to clear Ukrainian territory of lethal weapons and ensure our country’s national security, Slutsky said.

“It is clear that the collective West is now trying to apply all sorts of sanctions and restrictions in order to crush, break the back of the Russian economy, and even shoot itself in the foot, trying to replace Russian oil and gas in Europe with some other supplies,” the parliamentarian noted.

According to Slutsky, Russia has always acted through the supply of hydrocarbons in support of Europe’s energy security, but has not used energy superiority for political purposes, as our country has been accused in some international organizations.

US President Joe Biden announced an increase in gasoline prices, Slutsky said. “The question is how much longer ordinary Americans will tolerate such a government that not only bombs cities and tries to destroy individual countries, and makes such decisions at the legislative level, but also hits the pockets of its own taxpayers in a completely unreasonable way,” said Leonid Slutsky .

He stressed that the Russian negotiating group pays the greatest attention to the humanitarian corridors.

“There is no value greater than human life. Knowing this position of Russia, the nationalists deploy mobile anti-aircraft missile systems in the centers of residential areas and try not to let people out through humanitarian corridors,” Slutsky said.

The deputy recalled that since March 5, nationalists have been using people as human shields and not letting them out through humanitarian corridors, opening which Russia stops hostilities in these areas. “We will ensure that people come out,” Leonid Slutsky said, noting that humanitarian corridors would be open again today.
