Leonid Slutsky: “NATO announced the deployment of additional forces to Eastern Europe due to the situation around Ukraine. What is it: a provocation as a reaction to Russian initiatives on security guarantees? Even a child understands that the named reason is the result of pressure from the collective West.
The Alliance apparently decided to continue the policy of doublethink. At the beginning of negotiations on security guarantees, we repeatedly heard declarations from the NATO leadership about their readiness for dialogue. In fact, we now see intentions to strengthen NATO’s military presence near Russian borders. Isn’t this why all these tales about the plans of the “Russian invasion” have been told lately?
While Washington is delaying the preparation of a response to Russian proposals on security guarantees, Brussels is frankly pursuing a line of escalating tensions in Europe. Does the leadership of NATO realize what a severe crisis all this can lead to?
