Leonid Slutsky: NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced “intensification of Russian harmful activity” in the Alliance states

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg explained the reason for the decision to revoke the accreditation of eight diplomatic employees of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation in Brussels. It turns out that the point is not in any specific events, but in the “intensification of Russian malicious activity” in the Alliance states. The expelled diplomats, according to Stoltenberg, are allegedly related to intelligence agencies, but, of course, no evidence has been presented.

At the same time, Mr. Stoltenberg simultaneously speaks of openness to dialogue with Moscow and advocates the resumption of meetings of the Russia-NATO Council. Question: where is the logic? Or are we dealing with a political kind of cognitive dissonance? The West is trying to minimize the window of opportunity for contacts with Russia to the maximum, but loudly calls for that very “openness to dialogue.” Spy mania and the expulsion of diplomats by no means contribute to the “continuation of the conversation”, on the contrary, they lead to an even greater degradation in relations.

Brussels will definitely receive a response from Moscow. What’s next?
