Leonid Slutsky: “Negotiations between the US Secretary of State and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation have ended”

Leonid Slutsky: “Negotiations between the US Secretary of State and the Russian Foreign Minister have concluded, during which Anthony Blinken once again assured Sergey Lavrov that the United States is ready to continue discussing security issues. However, this did not prevent representatives of the State Department from repeating the theses about the right of states to choose alliances, simultaneously “forgetting” about the commitments signed by the United States within the OSCE on the indivisibility of security. All the same – which are directly mentioned in the Istanbul Charter (1999) and the Astana Declaration (2010).

Moreover, it is characteristic that Washington also very conveniently preferred to “forget” about the first of these theses, for example, at the beginning of 2022, when the leadership of Kazakhstan (also an OSCE member state) turned to the CSTO for help during unrest in the country with the participation of terrorists . The United States did not hide much of its dissatisfaction with the situation then. Or do countries have the right to choose only alliances approved by the United States?

The West, obviously, understands its obligations exclusively selectively and only in its own favor. But this topic, as the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry assured, “nobody will let it be wrapped up,” and Russia again asks for honest explanations.

In the meantime, we see that in Washington they continue to whip up anti-Russian hysteria and are engaged in a frank substitution of concepts, trying to reduce all negotiations on security guarantees to a discussion of the myth of the upcoming invasion of Ukraine. Even Kiev is already denying the presence of any threat on the border with Russia, but this does not stop the collective West from its intention to introduce new anti-Russian sanctions, pump up the Ukrainian army with weapons or bring all this “dummy” to the discussion of the UN Security Council. And all this in order to shift the focus from their own unfulfilled promises and obligations. And all for the sake of containing Russia…”
