Leonid Slutsky: “President Zelensky introduced new sanctions against participants in elections to the State Duma in Crimea, as well as members of election commissions of the peninsula”

Leonid Slutsky: “Ukraine does not stop throwing rotten wood into the“ anti-Russia ”project. President Zelensky introduced new sanctions against participants in the elections to the State Duma in Crimea, as well as members of the territorial election commissions of the peninsula.

The step is absolutely pointless. In 2014, the Crimeans, in a nationwide referendum, in full compliance with international law, decided to reunite with Russia. From that moment on, Crimea and Sevastopol were integrated into the Russian legal field, forever becoming a part of our common large country. Naturally, parliamentary elections in all regions are held in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation. And no sanctions will change this.

The effect of such decisions from the point of view of the result is zero. Rather, this is another desperate attempt by the Ukrainian president to raise his falling rating, but for some reason at the expense of Russian voters.

Not to mention the fact that State Duma deputies, as well as nominated candidates, are prohibited from having financial assets abroad. This is enshrined in the Constitution and electoral legislation of Russia so that there are no persons in power with accounts in foreign banks and offshore companies. Ukraine would definitely benefit from this experience. “
