Leonid Slutsky: Progress in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine may soon develop into a common position

Member of the Russian delegation at the talks with Ukraine, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky believes that in the near future the negotiation process between Moscow and Kiev may develop into a common position of both delegations, into documents for signing.

“If we compare the positions of both delegations at the talks at the very beginning and today, we will see significant progress. And once again I will repeat with pleasure that, according to my personal expectations, this progress can develop in the very next few days into a common position of both delegations, into documents for signing, ”he said on Sunday in an interview with RT.

According to Slutsky, the signing of documents is very important. “[This] will form the basis for reducing the degree of tension during the military operation and, of course, saving many people who are dying today both during the operation and being used by the Nazis as a human shield when the elderly, women, children leave humanitarian corridors,” he said.

Three rounds of Russian-Ukrainian talks have already taken place. The first of them was held on February 28 in the Gomel region, the meeting lasted five hours. The second round took place on March 3 in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, the third – in Belarus on March 7. The latest round of negotiations did not bring the desired results, representatives of both Moscow and Kyiv stated. At the same time, both sides expressed their readiness to continue negotiations and noted positive developments on the topic of humanitarian corridors.
