Leonid Slutsky: “The decision to hold a meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States gives a chance to start a normal dialogue”

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky:

“The decision to hold a meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States on June 16 in Geneva gives a chance to start a normal dialogue between the two leading nuclear powers on the planet. On the agenda are issues of strategic stability, the fight against coronavirus infection, and the settlement of regional conflicts, that is, all those areas where Moscow and Washington can and should look for common ground for cooperation. Of course, we are not talking about Reset 2.0 now, but it is necessary to raise the level of Russian-American relations from extremely negative values, first of all, from the point of view of international security. While there is cautious optimism, and we will judge the results by the concrete actions of our American partners.”
