In itself, Reznikov’s statement is a gross provocation. The deployment of US air defenses in Ukraine could change the balance of power not only in the region, but also beyond. You can talk as much as you like about the purely defensive nature of these objects, but in theory, nothing prevents the use of the Mk41 launcher, which is part of the Aegis missile defense system, to launch cruise missiles. Their appearance in the immediate vicinity of the Russian borders, I have no doubt, will entail a corresponding reaction from Moscow. Thus, the tension will only increase.
