Leonid Slutsky: “The European Parliament in its anti-Russian hysteria has ceased to hear the voice of reason”

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky:

“The European Parliament in its anti-Russian hysteria has ceased to hear the voice of reason.

At the plenary session in Strasbourg, MEPs approved the report of the Lithuanian parliamentarian Andrius Kubilius with an appeal to the EU authorities to reconsider relations with Russia and readiness not to recognize the results of the elections to the State Duma. Complete political and legal nonsense: the trial has not yet passed, and the culprit has practically been appointed.

We see the clearest example of an attempt to interfere in the Russian electoral process by the largest inter-parliamentary organization. I’m sorry, but such a line of European deputies undermines the prospects for unfreezing the dialogue with the new convocation of the State Duma, which was curtailed by no means on the Russian initiative. The European Parliament continues to operate in the Russophobic paradigm, despite even elementary time factors.

The rest of the theses of the adopted document generally contradict common sense. There is no evidence, no constructiveness, just a hysteria from the high parliamentary tribunes.

However, this resolution of the European Parliament, like all the others, is of a recommendatory nature. We can only hope for the sanity of the European authorities, which have repeatedly ignored the odious appeals of the EP ”.
