Leonid Slutsky: “The pandemic has become another reminder of how fragile the world community is,” Putin said at a meeting of the Valdai International Club. For the West, in spite of the words about the readiness to work together to solve common problems, in fact, the “own shirt is closer to the body” approach has become the norm.

Hardly anyone in their right mind would dare to argue with the Russian leader. However, the issue of mutual recognition of vaccines has not yet been resolved, and its politicization is sometimes brought to the point of absurdity! As President Putin noted, the total losses from the pandemic exceed those in the First World War. Is this really not enough to reject all previous patterns, to abandon Russophobia in the name of fighting a new global threat?

The World Health Organization announced the resumption of consideration of the Russian application for the approval of Sputnik V. But again, we hear that WHO does not yet have full vaccine data. I hope that the process will go on and the “cart will get under way” from a dead center.

In general, Putin’s speech at Valdai is once again becoming a programmatic one. Here and about the reform of the UN, and about the preservation of the historical truth about the role of the Soviet people in the victory over fascism, and about the ideology of the conservatives, and about sanctions, and about wild capitalism, and about Ukraine, and about foreign agents. It is obligatory to read and watch!
