Leonid Slutsky: “The Pentagon has announced the forthcoming transfer of 2,000 US troops to Europe, which will be deployed in Poland and Germany. Allegedly, the current situation requires strengthening on the eastern flank of NATO.

Let’s leave to military experts questions about how such a number of servicemen fall under the popular expression “the mountain gave birth to a mouse.” But from a political point of view, this is clearly an application for a demonstration of “military muscles”, and a very destructive one. The point here is not at all the desire of the West to protect Ukraine, on whose territory neither the United States nor NATO, in fact, needs any peace.

All this obviously coincides with the negotiations on security guarantees. Since the end of last year, Washington has been deliberately escalating tensions in Europe and is doing its best to support the myth of a possible “Russian invasion” of Ukraine. Again, there is an attempt to shift the focus of attention from global security issues to the fairy tale invented by the United States itself about “Russian aggression”. Such techniques are not new and are even perfectly described by Hollywood comedians.

But… it won’t work, I’m sure. Russian initiatives cover European and world stability in general. And more and more European countries are sensibly looking at the Ukrainian problem (the latest statements by the French Foreign Minister are a vivid example of this).”
