Leonid Slutsky: “The authorities of the Russian delegation have been challenged again in PACE by representatives of the so-called Baltic Plus group. Now, within 24 hours, the monitoring committee will have to prepare a report and submit it for discussion by the Assembly. The debate is proposed to be held on Wednesday, January 26, in the afternoon.
After Russia’s return to PACE in 2019, this is the third attempt to challenge the authority of our delegation. The two previous ones – in 2020 and 2021 – ended with the failure of Russophobes in the Assembly and the triumph of common sense – all the rights of Russian parliamentarians were confirmed in full. I hope that the constructive will prevail this time as well.
Otherwise – and this position is well known in Strasbourg – the delegation will refuse to work in PACE. We do not accept any discrimination, any sanctions or defeat in the rights of the Russian delegation.”
