Leonid Slutsky: the program of resettling compatriots in Russia is a shame

LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky discussed the topic of voluntary resettlement of compatriots to Russia at a meeting with Sakhalin veterans. The corresponding program has been operating for 16 years, but it is ineffective due to the meagerness of the incentives embedded in it and the sabotage of local officials

“The Germans have long ago returned all their people through the Goethe Institute, and no other country in Europe allows the number of schools abroad teaching in its languages to be reduced. And we still have more than 50,000 compatriots on consular records!” – Leonid Slutsky was indignant.

According to statistics, 25 million of our compatriots live in the territories of the former USSR, and about 30 million more live in far abroad countries.

Those wishing to move to Russia, the LDPR leader stated, often face insecurity, poor conditions and bureaucratic obstacles on the ground.

“Although for us, the settlement of our vast territory is an extremely important task. As the President of Russia said, if we do not urgently take action, we will remain an empty territory controlled from the outside,” Leonid Slutsky emphasized.
