Leonid Slutsky: The tactics of lies and hypocrisy are increasingly becoming the signature style of the US leadership in both foreign and domestic policy

“Americans are paying more at gas stations because of Putin’s actions,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki says in all seriousness. And US President Joe Biden himself does not hesitate to blame Russia for the inflation record in the country over the past 40 years.

Poor, poor Americans! It turns out that it was Russia itself that imposed unprecedented sanctions against itself and banned the import of petroleum products to the United States. And all just for the sake of getting into the pockets of American taxpayers. But in fact, it was Washington that unleashed the most brutal economic war against Moscow, where the United States is now also suffering losses.

Biden lacks the courage to admit that the overall crisis is provoked by ambitions to establish US hegemony and a policy of interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. All events, including the Russian military operation in Ukraine, were the result of this thoughtless policy of imposing American exceptionalism. It is for this that ordinary Americans today are forced to pay a higher price,

We have always said that any sanctions have a boomerang effect – as a result, they hit those who so zealously wanted to impose them. Blaming Russia now for the deteriorating economic situation in the US is like blaming a gun for shooting yourself in the foot.

Meanwhile, US officials, who in public like to speculate about their adherence to principles, recently visited Caracas and discussed with the Venezuelan leadership the possibility of easing sanctions on oil exports. At the same time, judging by the information in the media, Washington had the audacity to put forward its own conditions, which, of course, were rejected. Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic Felix Plasencia has already stated that cooperation is possible only if the United States respects the sovereignty of Venezuela. It looks like the State Department will have to expand its vocabulary with this term in the near future.
