Leonid Slutsky: “The trilateral meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, just like a year ago, can again be called historic. An important step has been taken in Sochi, which, as we all very much hope, will bring closer the final settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to the Russian President, by the end of the year, mechanisms of border demarcation and delimitation will be created between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Of course, this will require increased security in the border areas, and the agreements reached have yet to be implemented. However, a positive vector has already been set.

For thirty years, Nagorno-Karabakh has been waiting for peace to come, life will improve, and the infrastructure will be restored. Today, the long-suffering region has become one step closer to this. The leaders of the three countries separately stressed the need to launch concrete projects as soon as possible to unleash the economic potential of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The signed statement following the talks once again demonstrates the role of Russia as one of the most effective mediators in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan are our key allies and partners.
Meanwhile, while the issues of war and peace were being resolved in Sochi, somewhere in Europe they came up with more and more sanctions and looked for excuses for their own geopolitical miscalculations with very serious humanitarian consequences. And the leadership of Ukraine in the already familiar genre of KVN frightened with an attempt at a coup. That’s for sure: two worlds – two Shapiros. “
