Leonid Slutsky: “US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, during his overseas tour, decided to get on a Russophobic track. And he did it very rudely and certainly without any hint of diplomacy.

In Kiev, the head of the Pentagon loudly declared his desire to support the Ukrainian authorities, simultaneously accusing Russia of unleashing an armed conflict in Donbass, as well as obstructing its peaceful settlement. Let’s omit the comments of the “fairy tales and myths of the Washington Regional Committee.” But it is especially wild to hear such statements against the backdrop of the results of the Moscow talks by US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, including on Ukrainian issues, which she herself called “very productive.”

Question: what is this? Lack of coordination between the military and foreign policy departments of the United States? Or is it just that Washington decided in this way to show Kiev again, they say, “we are with you”? However, Zelenskiy’s office should remember that the words of high-ranking American officials do not always correspond to deeds.

And already during his visit to Romania, Austin began to talk about some “destabilizing actions of Russia in the Black Sea” in order to “prevent the creation of a united, free and peaceful Europe.” It turns out that now Europe is not free and not united? Or should this phrase be interpreted as “risking straying from the American course”? At the same time, the words about destabilization look quite cynical, especially in the context of incessant provocations at the Russian borders. As always – “from a sore head to a healthy one.”
