Leonid Slutsky: “Washington continues to consistently build up anti-Russian hysteria, declaring, however, its commitment to diplomacy and dialogue”

The official representative of the US State Department, Ned Price, stated bluntly that the US administration does not intend to yield to Russia in matters of security guarantees. He also spoke about the need for some mutual steps on the part of Russia and again called for a dialogue on the Ukrainian case. A little later, Bloomberg reported that the United States is unlikely to discuss Russia’s demands in a substantive manner. But Washington admits a reaction to Moscow’s concerns.

Does the West really expect that handouts “from the lord’s shoulder” in the form of “reaction” to Russia’s concerns can remove all the questions raised on security guarantees? The Russian proposals themselves were made comprehensively, and we are still waiting for an answer on all points.

At the same time, the hypocrisy of our Western partners continues to amaze. Literally every day we hear news about another “unprecedented” package of sanctions, about new batches of weapons for Ukraine, about sending additional NATO forces to Eastern Europe. And all this in Washington and Brussels is trying to justify the mythical impending invasion of Russia, which, as we recently learned from the same Bloomberg, allegedly postponed due to the Olympics.

Chatting or burying Russian initiatives in this way will not work. Our delegations at the talks in Geneva and Vienna clearly indicated that we are waiting for a concrete reaction, and not endless talk about some concerns, accompanied by threats of sanctions and intentions to strengthen the NATO military presence near the Russian borders.”
