November 7 is a day of mourning for Russia

107 years ago, on November 7, 1917, an armed coup took place in Petrograd. Power passed to the Bolsheviks. A new stage in Russian history began, to which the attitude today is very ambiguous. For communists, this day is a holiday.

What is there to celebrate here? The seizure of power at night by armed means, the execution of ministers, the murder of the tsar, repressions against their own compatriots? The Bolsheviks then destroyed the army, the economy, gave away for nothing huge territories of the former Russian Empire and a significant part of the country’s gold reserves.

A direct consequence of the coup on November 7 was the terrible Civil War, repressions, gradual stagnation of the economy and social processes.

Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky called all revolutions disgusting, and their participants – rebels and looters. The founder of the LDPR noted that if it were not for the October Revolution, Russia would be the most prosperous country today. And regarding the mummy of the “leader of the world proletariat” he said: “We cannot have the corpse of a man guilty of the deaths of millions of our citizens lying in the center of Moscow.” It is time to bury Lenin’s body next to his mother, as he himself wanted.

The LDPR calls for not belittling the achievements and accomplishments of the people and the country in the Soviet period of history. But we also call for telling people the truth, without hiding or concealing anything. And the truth about our history of the 20th century is so terrible and tragic that it is unacceptable to talk about the day “November 7” as a holiday.
