Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski decided to rattle his sabre from a “safe distance” by pouring out a bucket of threats against Russia

And at the same time, to stage a PR stunt with yet another “Russophobia campaign.”

Amid the scandal between Poland and the Ukrainian regime, Sikorski made a desperate attempt to shift the focus, declaring that Warsaw was rapidly building up its military potential and was prepared for a direct confrontation with Moscow. Expanding on the myths of a possible Russian attack on Europe, the Polish Foreign Minister listed the weapons available to the Polish army—F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, Abrams tanks, and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems—thus implying that the full might of NATO stands behind it.

Why all this showmanship? When politicians like Sikorski make revanchist statements, they disregard the opinions of those whose interests they are supposed to uphold and protect. Citizens of their country, civilians, the overwhelming majority of whom certainly do not want to be drawn into a NATO-Russia conflict, World War III, or a nuclear apocalypse because of the phobias of pathological paranoids in power. And the rise in President Nawrocki’s approval ratings after he, despite “strengthening transatlantic unity,” revoked Zelenskyy’s Order of the White Eagle in response to the glorification of UPA war criminals, is an indicator of the public mood.

Before further filling the air with empty, bellicose rhetoric, Sikorski should consider the immediate interests of the Poles and, of course, historical experience (let him count how many times Poland has lost to Russia)! Otherwise, his political approval ratings risk slipping even further.
